Kelloggs just introduced a new label to the side of the box: Diabetes Friendly.
What does that mean?
Cereals
These labels should be showing up on cereal boxes November 2008. (So, could be in stores now.) They might be adding this label to items like snacks soon too.
If you want to know more about this label, please see the Kelloggs page: http://www.kelloggsnutrition.com/live-healthy/diabetes-friendly.html
Here is an important recall for those who use syringes:
URGENT: Medical Device Recall – ReliOn 31 gauge 1 cc syringes with lot number 813900.
Tyco Healthcare Group LP (Covidien) is voluntarily recalling:
A single lot of ReliOn 31 gauge 1 cc syringes (lot #813900, shipped between August 1st, 2008 through October 8th, 2008)
The units are mislabeled, so people could be giving themselves the wrong dosage.
If you want more information, see the Relion recall site or the FDA recall site.

How are people doing after Halloween? Me…not so good. We only had around 10 kids show up on Halloween so we have (no exageration) a punch bowl full of candy left. And, I have to admit, I can’t stop nibbling on the darn things…
How are you guys doing? Are you dealing with Halloween and diabetes better than me? Any tips?

Hi Guys,
As you know by reading my blog, diabetes has had a profound effect on my life and those of my friends, family and loved ones. As you may know, type 1 (juvenile) diabetes is a devastating disease, and while insulin does keep people with type 1 diabetes alive, it’s NOT a cure. That’s why I’m committed to fighting for a cure through the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s (JDRF) advocacy program. Please join me in this effort to make a cure for type 1 diabetes a reality.
JDRF’s success is built on a close-knit group of Advocates determined to tell their stories of living with type 1 to their Members of Congress. Through telling these stories and building lasting relationships with Members, our group of Advocates have been lauded by Time Magazine as “one of the nation’s most forceful disease advocacy groups.”
Although great strides have been made over the past few years to increase federal support for juvenile diabetes research, more needs to be done and we need your help!
By becoming a JDRF Advocate, you will truly be making a difference in advancing a cure for diabetes.
Please click here to visit my JDRF advocacy page where you can learn more and sign-up to join JDRF’s network of Advocates.
I sincerely appreciate your support,
Lisa
