July 1, 2008 -- Couple of additions. First, I added the blog link. If you head over there you can get an idea of the color scheme I will eventually change this site to have. Also, I fixed the tooltips so they work with Firefox.
June 29, 2008 -- Some links were broken in the move, so I think I caught them. If anyone catches more, please let me know.
June 2008 -- We got a new home, www.diabetesthoughts.com! There are much more changes in store, so stay tuned!
2008 -- Hi guys! I didn't forget you! I am updating the site and soon will be relaunching the new Diabetes Notes. Because someone else has taken the Diabetes Notes name, I am going to change the name -- check back soon!
January 16, 2006 - Johnson & Johnson announced definitive agreement to aquire Animas Corporation, the insulin pump company. Press release is here.
January 11, 2006 - The American Diabetes Association is now accepting applications for the 2006-2007 National Youth Advocate. The application form doesn't seem to be up on their website yet, but they have sent out email asking for applicants.
September 1, 2005 - For Your Diabetes Life, a multimedia resource for the 18.2 million people in the United States living with diabetes, is starting a drive to collect donated diabetes supplies to help victims of Hurricane Katrina who are stranded without the medicine and supplies they need to manage their potentially deadly disease. The drive began when the dLife office responded to a caller who saw a need on a news report on TV showing someone stranded on the roof of a building holding a sign pleading for diabetes supplies. August 4, 2005 - Added Solutions 6.0 to the software page, with a mini-review.
August 3, 2005 - Transportation Bill passed in US Congress to prevent discrimination against employees with diabetes. Click here for press release Note that the press release is a PDF file. You will need an Adobe PDF reader to read it.
July 31, 2005 - Candymaker Mars will be working with drugmakers to use a key component of chocolate in medications. Full story here.
July 28, 2005 - Sidiary 5.0 was released on July 1, 2005, and is no longer free. Current price for the PocketPC version is 10 Euro. Read the whole story

May 25, 2005 - The Insulet Corporation now has product specs for the Omnipod available on their website. It is still looking interesting.
May 24, 2005 - Animas and Nicole Johnson Baker have launched a contest to find out people's diabetic heros. Do you have someone who helped you with your diabetes? Here you have a chance in getting them recognized.

May 15, 2005 - Novo Nordisk will stop providing Actrapid disposible injection pens and cartridges soon. See the quick mention in the Times article.
May 7-8, 2005 - Added ACCU-CHEK's Diabetes Assistant to the Software page.
May 5-6, 2005 - Added the "webbased" section to the software page, with bg-tracker as the first listed program.
May 4, 2005 - Added ACCU-CHEK's Pocket Compass to the Software page.
May 3, 2005 - Added JDRF's Baystate Branch, and the branch finder to the "local events" page. See, I told you I would be adding more :)
May 2, 2005 - Added a "Local Events" section to have info about support groups, gatherings, and fundraising happening in the local area. It is pretty small right now, but I will be adding more.
May 1, 2005 - Added a link to the DLife, the website for the diabetes tv show on Sunday at 7 pm on CNBC. It is in the general section
April 30, 2005 - Amylin and Eli Lilly announced the FDA has approved Byetta injection to improve blood sugar in Type 2 diabetes patients who have not achieved good control on metformin and/or sulfonylurea medications. This is a first in a new class of meds known as incretin mimetics. Fun fact, the medicine is a synthetic form of Gila monster saliva. See the press release here.
April 29, 2005 - Arranged restaurant nutrition links by alphabet and added Dairy Queen.
April 28, 2005 - Added a book and a magazine to the books page.
April 27, 2005 - Added the OmniPod to the Insulin pump company links on my link page. The OmniPod, which should be available later this year, is different from most pumps. Its control menu is on a device that contacts the infusion set wirelessly. Check it out, it looks pretty cool.
April 26, 2005 - According to the latest issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine (April 25, 2005), a study has shown that having less than 6 hours of sleep a night is associated with increased chances of having diabetes and IGT. See the abstract here.
April 25, 2005 - I was told about a great company named Pump Wear Inc. They make cool clothes and other items to hold insulin pumps. You just have to see them, they are really cute. Check out my link page, it is under "general".
Sept 20, 2004 - Wow, it's almost been a year since I posted any news... Well, I am still around. My life got super hectic after my baby was born. Things have started to calm down again, so I am slowly updating my site. Feel free to email me about any sites you think should be added, or any topic you would like to have covered.
Dec 1, 2003 - I have become a leaving prints scrapbook instructor. What does
that have to do with diabetes you ask? I am donating part of my comission
to diabetes causes. Send me an email if you are interested in ordering anything.
Sept 3, 2003 - Seems that Medtronic's new pump the Paradigm (511 and 512) isn't as waterproof as they once thought. Check out the letter they have sent to their users.
Sept 1, 2003 - I got a couple of SpectRx samples in the mail recently. One was for the new reservoirs, and the other was the SimpleChoice easy 30 degree infusion set. Stay tuned for a review an a week or two.

- Changed the page slightly so web updates are in black and news items are in purple font. (From April 2005 to present)
- Lifescan has sent out a warning about their glucometers. It seems that some of their devices can switch their unit of measure when dropped. Please see their warning on their website here: Lifescan's site.
- I'm starting to collect information on the Diabetic mother and Breastfeeding to add to my links. I haven't found very much. Feel free to email me any information you know.
- Novo Nordisk is stopping production on it's Novolin L (ultralente) insulin because of poor demand. See the FDA letter.
