Abbott Diabetes Care strip recall

Abbott Diabetes Care today announced that it has initiated a recall of 359 lots (approximately 359 million strips) of Precision Xtra®, Precision Xceed Pro®, MediSense® Optium™, Optium™, OptiumEZ and ReliOn® Ultima Blood Glucose Test Strips in the United States and Puerto Rico.

The strips, if affected, could give false low blood glucose results, which can lead users to try to raise their blood glucose when not needed.

insulin syringe recall

Here is an important recall for those who use syringes:

URGENT: Medical Device Recall – ReliOn 31 gauge 1 cc syringes with lot number 813900.

Tyco Healthcare Group LP (Covidien) is voluntarily recalling:

A single lot of ReliOn 31 gauge 1 cc syringes (lot #813900, shipped between August 1st, 2008 through October 8th, 2008)

The units are mislabeled, so people could be giving themselves the wrong dosage.
